September Newsletter

Welcome to our inaugural O4P newsletter! Going forward, we will be sending you occasional messages to keep you up to date on what we’ve been doing and what we’ve got planned, as well as sharing news (and particularly wins!) from our O4P community.

Power-Up: A 4-part course on the core fundamentals of organizing

10, 12, 17 & 19 November (or the following day in Asia-Pacific)

Power-Up is back this November! Bring your group of 10+ people for 4 sessions on the core principles of organizing, designed to help you build strong majorities and win your next campaign. Lessons will include the difference between mobilizing and organizing, leader identification, word choice, structured organizing conversations, charting, structure tests, and the steps to develop a solid plan to win.

New organizing resources

We have developed a series of new resources designed to boost your organizing campaigns: our new Resource page includes guides, reading and program materials, presentations, and other helpful worksheets and templates.

Make sure to check out our new visual guide in particular, now available in 9 languages! Condensing our core lessons in one place, it includes our theory of power, the basic principles that define our approach to organizing, and the key methods we teach in our training programs.

Victories from the ground

Spotlight on Slovenia

During our last training in May, organizers from Slovenia joined us on stage to present their successful campaign uniting workers of one of the biggest supermarket chains of the country. Applying the methods we teach, including leader identification, structured organizing conversations and inoculation, they managed to obtain major wage increases and new benefits for thousands of workers.

Check out other wins in our community:

  • A promising tenant organizing campaign in Australia
  • Philadelphia teachers on what it takes to win
  • How health workers are organizing hospitals in Ghana

A year of new programs

Last November, we initiated a new programming cycle with our first Power-Up training, covering the core fundamentals of organizing in a more condensed format. In February and March, we continued this cycle with our first-ever “booster sessions”, designed to complement and deepen core programming. We first did a deep dive on structure tests, and later supported non-labor groups in identifying structure and targets in their campaigns. Then in May, we ran our inaugural advanced training, Power-Up: Level 2, which went into depth on the practical aspects of running a campaign.

Well over 10,000 people from more than 100 countries took part in this programming cycle. Going forward, we intend to build on what we’ve started: diversifying our offering of introductory trainings, providing ongoing complementary support, and sharpening our advanced programs according to your feedback.

Two years without Jane

July 7th 2026 marked the second anniversary of Jane McAlevey’s passing. Our hearts remain heavy with loss, yet buoyed by the powerful body of work that she has left to us.

We could think of no better way to honor Jane’s life and work than with the first-ever in-person meeting with members of our Organizing for Power team. Over three inspiring days, we debriefed our new Power-Up program and discussed how to continue developing our work to meet the challenges of the moment we are in. We came away with stronger bonds, good ideas, and renewed energy to support your struggles for justice. Stay tuned!
